Who am I?
Well, I’m BA Tortuga, and I’ve been married to the woman of my dreams, my muse, and my soulmate for ten years (that’s the most important part, and my lady is always my lead).
I’ve been writing gay romance for 21 years, which means my career is old enough to drink, so someone pass the tequila. My passion is western culture — I grew up on a ranch in Texas, my daddy is a cowboy, and I am committed to writing the reality I wish into the world.
My new home state is New Mexico, so I’ve been deep-diving into the New Mexico/Colorado southwest for the last ten years or so.
What does that mean?
I write cowboys, lots of them with kids, a few of them not exactly based in this world… My books have a lot of food (green chile is proof that there is a higher power and that we are loved), a lot of joy, not a ton of angst, and a guaranteed HEA.
This year, I’m intending to write a third Foster Ranch novel, a third Cowboy Wanted novel, along with a stand-alone Cozy Cowboy and a lesbian novel in the Summit Springs universe. I’m also working on a cozy mystery and a southwestern flavored romantasy in my free time.
Why am I reaming (should I use reaming as a word like this, y’all? Possibly not…)?
Community is my thing, and this is a way to create that. I want to share my works in progress, discuss the wild ideas that gallop through my head, develop recipes, have cook-a-longs, share character snippets, revisit boys, and get eyes on all of those things that get dumped from stories. Also, there’s something vastly cool about sharing my process with y’all. I mean, is it going to alter the way I work?

So, what do y’all get?
I tried to set the tiers up to be affordable and fair, so please check them out. I’m new as all get out to this, but I’m learning and welcoming feedback (and seeing what all my fellow authors are doing as well). The ebooks will be distributed by Bookfunnel, and I expect to update this a lot until I figure out whether I’m scratching my butt or winding my watch.
